Life Planning for Parents of Special Needs Children
With Andrew S. Feurerstein, Esq.
Thursday, May 30, 7-8pm
Futernick Family Art Gallery

South Florida disability attorney Andrew S. Feurerstein, Esq., will address important steps that parents of special needs children can take to insure their child’s future care. These steps will help to maintain the same quality of life that the child currently enjoys after parental care is unavailable. Specific topics to be discussed include (1) obtaining benefits from governmental programs such as Social Security and Medicaid, (2) preparing the necessary legal documents to provide for the child’s specific needs without disqualifying him/her from benefits received from governmental programs such as Social Security and Medicaid (i.e. a “Special Needs Trust,” which will hold and manage all funds left to the child for the rest of his/her life), and (3) having a “Guardian” appointed or Power of Attorney drafted to allow a third party to protect and exercise the child’s legal rights.
